DUI Processor Ignition Interlock Device Iowa

Michigan's Repeat Offender laws are designed to get tough with drivers who repeatedly drive drunk or drive while suspended. If you have any of the following combination or drunk or drugged driving convictions, the law indicates that you are a habitual offender and will install an ignition interlock device:

  1. Two or more conviction within 7 years
  2. Three or more convictions within 10 years.

WHAT IS AN IGNITION INTERLOCK DEVICE?

An Ignition Interlock Device (IID) integrates breath alcohol testing with your vehicle’s ignition system. Prior to starting your vehicle, you will need to submit a breath sample into the hand held portion of the device that tests for the presence of alcohol. The state of Michigan requires a camera unit on the device to capture the image of the driver as he/she performs the breath test.
